5 of Palace’s Best Collaborations To Date

The London-based streetwear/skateboard brand Palace has a rich collaborative history and has previously joined forces with the likes of sportswear labels, acclaimed musicians, and even fast food chains. Whether you’re a Stella drinker, an advocate for the late Vivienne Westwood, or a fan of Tasman Uggs (with a psychedelic stitchwork twist), there’s a collaboration for everyone!

5th place: Palace X Mercedes (Summer 2021)

I’m kicking it off with this Palace x Mercedes Summer 2021 collection…Heavy leather biker jacket core, a pop of red and violet and bling. This jacket would serve the perfect ‘off duty’ look running errands in the city matched with a pair of micro shades and a matcha in hand. The T-shirt on the other hand is slightly giving hypebeast wannabe 12 year old boy, who only has this designer piece to his name and thinks he’s hard for it.

4th place: Palace X Elton John (Spring 2022)

Who doesn’t want to wear sir Elton John’s face? I could so see Noel Fielding in the first sweater and I love that. The ambiguous tracksuit top is both regal and understated, it’s a perfect dressed up casual look and fashion is all about balance at the end of the day. I could wear it while tidying the house on a Sunday afternoon but it could also come to Glasto with me.

3rd place: Palace X Gore Tex Vortex (Winter 2018)

There’s something so 90s rave about the black white and pink zebra print but it’s also a staple for a festival weekend with a pair of red Hunter’s and hot pant shorts. Palace has always leant into British subcultures and stands for the youth, thus I think this collaboration has successfully managed to achieve that expression. I have to say, the hat is very 2019 AJ Tracey music video, but that means nostalgia so I’ll let it pass.

2nd place: Palace X Evisu / Palace X Vivienne Westwood (Spring/Autumn 2024)

In joint second place are the Spring/Autumn 2024 collabs with Evisu and Vivienne Westwood. I feel like nothing else needs to be said. If anyone reading this owns any of these pieces I am extremely envious of you (and if the Creative Director of Evisu or Vivienne Westwood are reading this, I would love to sponsor you!!). The seamless, contrastive stitchwork on the denim, the tartan beret and the renaissance-esque inspired print perfectly encapsulate the features I love about the label VW. The bold, enlarged logos on the pockets of the Palace Evisu denim jacket scream “I’m that b****” and jorts will forever be a staple. It’s easy to say these are two of my favourite brands so why didn’t they climb to number one? I had to reserve the top spot for a sportswear collab as I feel that angle is more suited to my perception of the brand Palace. I’ve found some of the high-end designer partnerships slightly pretentious, especially past collabs with Moschino and Gucci. Palace focuses on skater fashion at the end of the day and was initially inspired by the derelict conditions of the residences the founders grew up in. In spite of how cool this collection is, I like a Palace collab to encapsulate the streetwear roots of the brand; muted colourways, bagginess and an effortless cool factor.

1st place: Palace X Umbro (Spring 2024)

Did you guess it? In first place is the Palace X Umbro collection which launched in Spring 2024. I can’t solely base my rankings on the clothing as the visuals are also of crucial importance. The decision to shoot this collab in the boroughs of London serves as a testament to British youth culture which permeates the project with authenticity and abides by the brand’s origins. Although not a sportswoman myself, I’ve always loved to incorporate football jerseys and baseball caps into my fashion - I’m definitely the ‘Sporty Spice’ of the group. I love how laid back this collab is yet so cool - the lowkey, navy tracksuit look paired with some chunky gold hoops embodies my style perfectly!
