Hard Launching 2025 Tutto Passa Summer

ree

If you love a Euro Summer image then you are surely familiar with the infamous old Neapolitan man who has the words tutto passa tattooed across his tanned chest. He’s a summer classic - laid back, sun-drenched and certain that ‘everything passes.’

I don’t speak Italian but these two words have been ingrained into my head far more than any trending song. In Greek we have a similar saying ‘ τα πάντα ρει ’ which reminds us that everything flows, nothing ever stays the same. Whether it comes as a blessing or a trouble, it is a truth, and a reassuring one nonetheless. Suddenly all I want is a tutto passa summer.

Summer has always meant a routine rebirth where summer solstice has taught us the importance of embracing change. And quite often it represents a break in our year, whether a few months, weeks or days, a summer break is a time for reflection and for change.

Especially now that the world is so caught up in their digital existence, a tutto passa summer is a break from that burden. Fluid Focus has revealed the results of their study show the average individual will spend an equivalent of 25 years on their phone. Ultimately we are letting all these moments slip away because we are simply not experiencing life as it is -and there doesn’t seem to be a job excuse because according to this you have plenty of free time.

So, the first pillar of Tutto Passa summer is to not being able to identify with internet culture. No, you don’t want to know what’s happening in Gabriette’s world, you don’t know what a labubu is and you don’t care what tiktok is trying to sell you this week - it’s embarrassing, it’s icky. Be a boomer (just without the rightist sentiments that may come with it).

Tutto Passa is not about catching up with trends and cyclical fads but it’s a pause to consider your own life. To appreciate what you have now and know that you will never be in the same position again.

And what should you expect of the position you are in now? Now that you’re no longer a member of the digital world, how are you gonna pass the time? Well that’s not for me to answer - I don’t know your interests. But whatever they may be there will be a book on it. Pick it out, maybe get yourself an actual physical library card and support your neighborhood too. Learn more about it.

But keep it simple. Like everything in a tutto passa summer it is about simplicity. Don’t overthink it - yet another pillar that is perhaps easier said than done. But it is not time to be the thought daughter who spends so much time thinking about the future or the past, what can change, what can go wrong, what will happen and who will we be? It’s time to take a break from wishing the present away, enjoy it as it is now as it too will pass. To put it simply - don’t think, just do.

Speaking of keeping it simple, tutto passa` is meant to stop the overstimulation. Go for a walk without your earphones - even if you live in a place where this means bearing the sound of people swearing at you from their car for crossing the street and blocking their illegal U-turn. Have the radio on as you cook if you must but I better not catch anyone eating in front of Youtube this summer, what would Anthony Bourdain think of you? Eat with people. Eat outside. Eat on the balcony, in the garden, in the street. And don’t eat anything that is out of season because why would you hate yourself so much? Eat tomatoes, eat peaches and eat figs because anyone who says they taste the same all year round is either a liar or ageusic (another term for a British person who doesn’t know any better). Add glasses of wine or raki every now and again. Coffee three times a day is the minimum and if it doesn’t come in a tiny white cup it unfortunately does not pass the criteria and must not be consumed.

Perhaps I have made this all sound quite lethargic and inanimate. Though it can be, it’s really all about doing the things you wish you had time for that you are wasting either online or in a different state of lethargy. In cases of misfortune or heartbreak or overriding S.A.D.  it can be understood if you don’t want to do much but remember just as I have repeated again and again that this too will pass and new days are to come. Even if it doesn’t feel like it, everything is evolving. But that doesn’t mean you need to watch it happen for you, claim it and know that an absolute sight-for-sore-eyes glow up is on its way.

In my eyes a true tutto passa summer also includes several trips to the beach, hanging around the neighbourhood square, consuming a couple watermelons a week and going outside after 8pm when it is actually enjoyable. However, I know that a lot of people reading will probably be in the UK right now in which case I am so sorry and I suppose you guys can go to the park, the pub and swim in rivers? I’m not entirely sure, someone will have to write a more British tailored version of this.

Finally, a tutto passa must not be mistaken for an inactive summer, if you’re going to be embracing change make sure that you are also creating change that is something you want to see for the world. If there’s a certain issue or people you want to stand up for then go and stand up for it and demand that change. Especially this summer when we have the privilege to have a tutto passa summer, many others cannot and that cannot be ignored. Ignore the internet, not the news.

Enjoy the long summer days. Enjoy the sunlight. Enjoy the rain. Enjoy the seasonal fruit - they will never taste the same. Enjoy the table talks and the people in your life now. Enjoy your walk - wherever it is you’re off to. Enjoy being bored - it’s a privilege. Enjoy where you are now - even if it’s not where you want to be at least you are here. Cue the song “Wonderful Life,” preferably the Katie Melua version. All these moments will pass and you’ll look back wishing you had appreciated more of it. So have a 2025 Tutto Passa Summer and regret won’t be a word you ever use.
